Every Day Hunting for the Every Day Hunter. After coming up with this statement, we quickly began to realize just how much hard work and effort it was going to take from us. Anyone who hunts knows the profound desire to have all of the nice, new equipment and gear – not to mention, plenty of land to hunt on. Yet, this is just not the case for us. We have nothing against hunting shows that display all these great things, but the fact of the matter is we do not. Even though we are envious of those kind of shows, we are here in an effort to display what it is like to be an average hunter fueling off of an excellent work ethic.
Instead of wallowing in the fact that we do not have the latest equipment or the most land, we decided to make the most of it. In doing this, we have had a lot of fun in the process.

You can not expect every hunting spot to be overflowing with 120-inch deer with no effort. It is important that you begin preparing the land to hunt – not just for the next year, but for the next three to four years. We began putting this into motion this year when we were able to utilize a 150 acre piece of property. The property is mostly made up of pine trees. Since we do not own the property, we do not have the ability to cut the trees down. It also has a small portion of mature oak trees, but almost all of the acorns had fallen by the time we started the season. After numerous days of scouting out the land, we finally found a pond. When we found it, it was more like a grown up thicket. We spent the next several days clearing things out and cutting a trail large enough for a tractor. There is more work to be done such as: spraying the native grasses and weeds, uprooting a few sapling trees, and burning off some of the area. This is all a major step forward for us. By the time we get to the season next year, our herd should have a healthy and sustainable food supply.

We could not be more thrilled to be working towards the next hunting season. This is truly what we are passionate about. We are not where we want to be yet, but this is the beginning of a long road leading us there. Everyone that is part of this team is wanting and willing to work as hard as possible to utilize every available resource (big and small) to its fullest. When you work hard, you always get to play hard.
